Elevated Contour
Choreographed by Lyndsey Lycheck

Spring 2011
Gravity Defined was the spring dance show, held in our proscenium theater, and I designed the costumes for one of the pieces - Elevated Contour. It was also my first realized costume design that wasn't co-created. This one was a big challenge for me, because I was so new to costumes, but in the end I was really really proud of it. The designer and I were on the same wavelength the whole time; her inspiration was clouds, and she wanted her dancers to float across the stage. I wanted to give that feeling of drifting or floating, without hiding the dancer's bodies or the choreography, because she created a lot of really great pictures. I ended up going with bell pants and sleeves, in four different colors of grey and blue.
