Pieces on the Floor
Choreographed by Dani Gutierrez
Humboldt State University
Spring 2013
For this solo piece, my choreographer wanted a costume that fit her personality, that was soft and abstract, and maybe a bit shiny. The dance contained a strong contrast between the right and left sides of the dancer, so I decided to continue that contrast in the costume. In the end we were both really pleased.
After doing a mock up, I draped the actual fabric on the unitard. After a fitting and a little adjusting, I sewed it all on. Once the "pumpkin pant" was set, I cut out the leg below it. And then it was time for a little glitz!
