Elf
Directed by Mark Femia
Francis Parker School
Winter 2016
For Elf, I had a student design the set. She got to see her design realized, as I lead the rest of our student workers in carrying it out. In addition to being the Technical director for the set, I also designed the props. With the holiday setting, and the various toy shops and stores, the style of props was easy to chose.
Because Elf was based on a movie, the scenes changed rapidly. However, we didn't have the ability to just cut to a new location like film can. To that end, we incorporated slides to help sell the various settings. I was responsible for designing these, as well as the lighting that helped establish those settings.
