Tribal Echoes

A co-design for a dance show, our concept was a completely inorganic representation of a tree for the tribe of dancers to live on. This was composed of found objects from our shop and basement storage, such as our paint frame, an old Marley rack, a lamppost, a metal ladder, and a jail cell door. These were firmly attached, the edges were padded with pipe insulator, and they were painted in various shades of metal grey and rust.
The branches were hung from a batten almost a foot back from the trunk, but with the shadow play, the gap wasn't noticeable.
Many strong connections meant that the dancers could safely utilize the entire trunk, and they really thoroughly explored it's nooks and crannies.
